Ripon Medical Center Achieves Healthy Document Management
Ripon Medical Center (RMC) is a 25-bed, critical access hospital based in rural Ripon, Wis. that serves more than 25,000 area residents. The facility streamlined data processing, storage and retrieval with WebDocs.
Healthcare Recordkeeping 101
In healthcare, "products" are people's health and wellbeing, and good health demands good recordkeeping. From registration information and insurance forms to medical records, each patient visit generates numerous documents.
Dysfunctional Data Processing
Patient documents, primarily created on RMC's model 520 System i, were processed with care, yet RMC incurred the greatest liability when trying to retrieve document images.
Formerly, RMC document processing was a costly and cumbersome task. For each document, data had to be merged with form overlays, laser printed, and scanned into network storage before being printed and stored offsite for safekeeping. RMC also spent a considerable amount of time printing monthly reports to track patient account payments, write-offs and other relevant information.
WebDocs to the rescue
In search of a more efficient document management method, RMC chose WebDocs for its superior features and price.
WebDocs automatically captures data to create and store document images for RMC – no printing and manual processing required. The system also automates indexing, which eliminates the possibility of human error and misfiled paperwork and ensures documents are identifiable at a glance.
With WebDocs in place, RMC saves paper and manual-scanning labor costs. Best of all, the system speeds, simplifies, and reduces the cost of information retrieval for RMC.
According to RMC Information Services Director Wayne Johnston, "Our users think WebDocs is the greatest thing since sliced bread."
